Dr. Michele Slifka holds a BM in Violin Performance and BA in Mathematics from Indiana University (Bloomington), a MM in Violin Performance from Mannes College of Music, a Doctorate in Music from the City University of New York, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She brings to the Bronx Conservatory a unique background fusing over a decade as a performing and teaching artist, and a robust career as a strategy consultant.
Michele has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the US and Europe, and played regularly in Broadway shows and productions at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Michele was a member of the music faculty at Hunter College of CUNY for a decade, teaching violin and multiple undergraduate and graduate music courses. She was also on faculty at Kean University (NJ) and Broward College (FLA), where she served as the conductor of the Broward Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her performing career she remained dedicated to teaching young violinists at schools including The Riverdale Country School, The Hackley School, and other music schools throughout NYC.
In 2009, Michele decided to pivot her career to focus on entrepreneurship and growth strategies for organizations. After completing her MBA, she was a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, working with fortune-fifty companies in the financial, entertainment, and healthcare industries. She went on to focus on growth strategy consulting for non-profits and was asked to join the BCM team in July 2022.
Michele has served on several boards, including the Hillel International Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Yale Hillel, as well as the Board of Directors of Minds Matter, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their horizons and preparing them for college success.
