Sebastián Molina is a Chilean classical guitarist who has performed concerts in Europe, South America and the United States. He recently earned the Andrés Segovia/Rose Augustine Award from Manhattan School of Music in recognition of excellence in classical guitar performance. To this award he adds the Honorable Mention award at the “2024 Buffalo International Guitar Festival and Competition” in Buffalo, NY. He recently performed at the Village Trip Festival in New York, which included the world premiere of a work by Felipe Pinto D`Aguiar, and at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he also premiered a piece by Felipe Bustamante and also highlights his participation in the Guitar Foundation of America Celebrates 50 years, in the non-competitive category “I played a Concert at GFA”.
Sebastián Molina has performed in numerous concerts and music festivals including “Fred Schneiter” in Rio do Janeiro, Brazil, ”Encuentro Guitarrístico de Choroni” in Venezuela, “Latinoamérica de Concierto” in Bogotá, Colombia, “Sonamos Latinoamérica” in Mexico, Perú, Argentina and “Festival Entrecuerdas” in Chile.
He received his Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of the célebre guitarist David Leisner, and his Bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Mayor Conservatory of Music, under the guidance of José Antonio Escobar. He also obtained a Bachelor ‘s degree in Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
Sebastián has released two albums, one as a soloist titled “Recital al Sur” with Chilean music for guitar and another album as a duet with his wife, the prominent mezzo-soprano Belem Abraham with a representative Spanish and Chilean songbook from the 19th and 20th centuries.
He was a Scholar of the Ernesto Quezada Viva Guitar Foundation, a scholarship recipient of the Chile Crea Scholarship and a scholarship recipient of the SCD, Chilean Copyright Society scholarship.
