Jose Cruz

Jose Manuel Cruz Vasquez began his musical journey at age 7 under the guidance of his father, maestro Manuel Cruz. His exceptional talent quickly led him to perform with various orchestras in Oaxaca. By 12, Jose shifted his focus to classical piano, studying privately with maestro Miguel Angel Rivera. In 2017, he was accepted into the Superior School of Music in Mexico City, where he studied with Ana Marra Tradstti, winning first prize in the institution’s piano competition.

Jose has since performed in esteemed venues across Mexico, such as the Juarez Hall of Fine Arts and the Macedonio Alcala Theater. He made his orchestral debut in 2020, playing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the BUAP Symphonic Orchestra. His numerous awards include top prizes at the National Piano Competition Cedros UP-YAMAHA and the Cuervo-Petrof International Piano Competition.

Currently, Jose is pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Jeffrey Cohen, while also serving as a staff collaborative pianist at the institution.
