Introducing The Newest Members of the BCM Team!

We are excited to announce the newest additions to the Bronx Conservatory of Music family! Please join us in welcoming Karen Tennison as our new Director of Operations, and Agueda de la Cruz and Andrea Gutierrez Alvarez as our newest Administrative Assistants. We are thrilled to have them on board as we continue our mission of providing world-class music education to Bronx students.

Karen Tennison – Director of Operations

Karen Tennison, our new Director of Operations, has always been deeply passionate about music, beginning with early voice and piano lessons. Holding both a Bachelor’s in Biology (with a minor in Music) and a Master’s in Jazz Performance, Karen has built a successful music and teaching career in New York since 2017, inspiring students of all ages. An entrepreneur and arts advocate, Karen is excited to bring her dedication to conservatory-level music education to the Bronx Conservatory, fostering an inclusive and transformative environment for our community.

Andrea Gutierrez Alvarez – Administrative Assistant

Andrea Gutierrez Alvarez brings extensive administrative experience from both educational and nonprofit settings to the Bronx Conservatory. With a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Science/Health Service Management, her recent role as Administrative Assistant at Mount Vernon High School highlighted her bilingual skills and dedication to supporting students, parents, and staff. We’re thrilled to have Andrea’s expertise and commitment to education on our team.

Agueda de la Cruz – Administrative Assistant

Agueda de la Cruz joins the Bronx Conservatory with a strong background in education and counseling, holding dual Master’s degrees in Childhood and Counselor Education with bilingual extensions. As a Dual Language Teacher, she has fostered a culturally inclusive environment, promoting cross-cultural understanding through Spanish and English instruction. Agueda’s expertise in academic and social-emotional support, combined with her passion for equity and student engagement, will be invaluable to our team.

We are confident that Karen, Andrea, and Agueda will contribute immensely to the Bronx Conservatory of Music’s mission to provide top-tier music education to our community. We look forward to working with them and seeing the great impact they will have on our students and programs.
